I worked on a redesign for PCMCH (Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health), a government organization which promotes awareness and services for New Mothers and Children of all stages.
My Role
Putting on the Information Architect and User Experience hat in my role as Senior Designer at Mash Media, I was responsible for the planning and vision of the site redesign from Desk Research & Wireframes to Creative Conception.
Challenge
This client outgrew their old site which at the time only contained one set of primary navigation, a slew of text updates, and a great many orphan pages. They had a wide dispersal of information in various formats including PDF, Video, and Audio, as well as monthly events. One of the requirements was to improve their newsletter database as well.
Approach & Solution
Starting with research which led to sketches and wireframes, I was able to put together a better picture of the information they chose to share in an easier to access format for the end user. The size of the navigation was increased to suit mobile users despite the lack of budget for a responsive design. As the architecture was complex, simple user way-finding became of paramount importance. Breadcrumbs were integrated, as well as prime placement for their search functionality. The newsletter signup was added to their Homepage to present ease of entry.
Result
The redesign resulted in increased engagement and overall end user satisfaction.
